He acquired the chocolate-boy image as the adoring Dr. Rahul of Sanjeevani. Perhaps, actor Mihir Mishra is no longer comfortable with this tag. So, out goes Rahul and in comes Farhan - the rapist. The actor has re-surfaced after a long hiatus. After Sahara one's Hare Kanch ki Chudiyan was unceremoniously pulled off air, Mihir was not seen on the idiot box. Now, the actor is back in action with an entirely new look in Sahara One's Zaara. Plus he's bagged a show each on INX and Zee Next. The actor reveals this and more in a short chat with Sonal Miglani. You took an extended sabbatical from work. Any particular reasons for it? I know people wrote me off, but I was never out of work. I never gave explanations that I wasn't being offered any roles. I got several offers, but none of them was really exciting. So, I preferred to lie down. But I know there is something good in store for me. Now, it feels great to be back. Can you elaborate on your character in Zaara? I play Zaara's cousin Farhan, who is a rich and arrogant man. He's born and brought up in London and is a casanova. He rapes a girl, who later conceives his baby. The victim turns out to be none other Zaara's best friend. So, Zaara will take action against her own brother. Farhan's ultimate motive is to earn lot of money. It's a cameo but a very strong role. You did a negative cameo act in Meri Awaaz Ko…so how does it feel like doing a negative act again? That was just for few episodes where as this time, my character will bring a lot of twist and turns in the tale. Why did you accept this role? Some people thought that I can only portray chocolate boy roles. By taking this role, I wanted to prove one and all that I'm more than capable of portraying different characters. It surely is a challenge. What is the best thing about this role? Even though Farhan is a crook, he does everything with a smile. Do you identify yourself with Farhan? We are poles apart. He's a pervert where as I'm a decent guy. What homework did you do for this character? I started behaving like my character at home and did watch some movies of Amrish Puri. So your character is inspired by Amrish Puri? No, I saw those films just to get an idea of how good a negative character can be. Are you doing any other shows? I've signed two shows for INX and Zee Next. I'm playing lead in both and doctor in one of them. But this time, the character of doctor will be completely different from what I did in Sanjeevani. I'll be more focused towards work rather than my girlfriend. The shooting for both has already begun and they're expected to go on air in November. Why didn't you accept Dill Mill Gayye? Frankly speaking, I was never offered Dill…But I hold no grudges against Siddharth (producer). All the reports of me not doing the show due to monetary reasons are false. What kind of roles are you game for in future? I would love to play negative roles as they are very challenging.
