"I had to compete with celebs who have a
stronger mass appeal" Tapur Chatterjee

For one who had never danced in her life Tapur Chatterjee had picked up the right moves and pretty quickly at that. So her elimination from Sony's Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa came as a rude shock. Here the gorgeous model sums up her journey on the dance reality show.

How do you look back at your experience in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa?
It was good and something different from my regular routine. Earlier I had turned down the proposal but later I thought it was a good idea to explore my calibre as a dancer. I'm happy that I could be a part of Jhalak and no whines for being eliminated too.

Where you disappointed after your elimination?
I didn't expect too much from the show since I'm a non dancer. I was prepared for the elimination. It was great that I managed to reach the third round. I had taken this very professionally. I wasn't too emotionally attached to Jhalak, so it doesn't make a big difference to me.

What exactly went wrong?
Nothing went wrong with my performance. I did improve on my dancing skills and technique but you can't expect me to come up to mark in just three performances. It's just that I had to compete with television personalities who have a stronger mass appeal. Masses have their own favourites whom they vote for. I think that's what matters in a reality show. As a model, I don't really connect with the masses.

Did you have a good rapport with your chorographer?
I shared a very professional relation with my chorographer. There were agreements and disagreements but sometimes the chorographer tends to forget that we are non dancers. If you perform well, they push you more. And that's when all the clashes occur. I have no complaints as I enjoyed myself. It's just a show and I took it in the right spirit.

What's next on the agenda?
I'm back on the ramp after one and a half month. Jhalak was a refreshing experience and I am raring to go now.

Will you take up another reality show if it's offered to you?
It depends on factors like the theme, the channel and how comfortable I'm with it. Jhalak was a wonderful opportunity. For now, I just want to concentrate on my ramp career.
